Seriously, the ONLY thing I did was leave the PC on. With this kind of a system in place there is absolutely nothing special about being part of an event. And as such, it makes very little sense to exclude people on the basis of this.

You misread. I have no issues with them expanding what they sell in the store because I am willing and ready to leave the game and let it die at any moment. And this is where our opinions differ.
